If you or your kids have been enchanted by the movie, you might be interested in a sequel. But will there be a follow-up to Christmas on Mistletoe Farm? Here’s what we know at the time of writing.
What is Christmas on Mistletoe Farm about?
The movie tells the story of Matt Cunningham, a widowed father of five children, who inherits the titular farm from his father. He visits the farm at Christmastime, hoping to get some peace and quiet so he can prepare for a business deal, but when zany farmhand Beano arrives on the scene, his chances of getting any work done become slim to none. Matt isn’t interested in keeping the farm so decides to sell it to some land developers. Beano and Matt’s children have other ideas, however, and they do their best to change Matt’s mind. The local villagers aren’t keen on Matt selling the farm either. By the end of the movie, he has a decision to make: Sell the farm or quit his job and live on Mistletoe Farm for the long term. Will there be a Christmas on Mistletoe Farm 2?
Netflix has not yet confirmed a sequel to Christmas on Mistletoe Farm which may be disappointing to you if you want to spend more time with Matt and his adorable family. As the movie ends on a conclusive note, it is unlikely that a sequel will be given the green light in the future. And as the reviews for the movie have been less than positive, this is another indicator that a second movie won’t happen. Still, director Debbie Isitt did direct several sequels to Nativity!, a movie that didn’t necessarily need follow-ups but got them anyway, so there is a slim chance that she will want to return to Mistletoe Farm in the future. But for now, it’s best not to get your hopes up for a sequel to her latest Christmas offering.
What could Christmas on Mistletoe Farm 2 be about?
If a sequel was to be given the green light, it would likely focus on Matt and his family again as well as the villagers around Mistletoe Farm. Beano would likely pop up again too as he was a big part of the first movie. In terms of plot, we could expect a direct follow-up to the end of the last movie where Matt made his decision about the farm. If Netflix does green-light a sequel, there is a good chance that it might show up around Christmastime next year.
